The program is the organization's second release, following the critically-acclaimed release in 2006 of an eponymous package of six award-winning international shorts, which was distributed nationwide via New Yorker Films, and subsequently released on DVD. The organization has been exhibiting programs of international short films in the New York are since 2000.Titles include "Kitchen" by Alice Winocour; "Gratte papier" (Pen-Pusher) by Guillaume Martinez; "Ma mere:Histoire d'une immigration" (My Mother: Story of an Immigration) by Felipe Canales; "Je suis une voix" (OneVoice, One Vote) by Jeanne Paturle and Cécile Rousset; "La dernière journée" (The Last Day) by Olivier Bourbeillon; and "L'origine de la tendresse" by Alain-Paul Mallard. Between them, the films have been honored with numerous awards and nominations at festivals from Cannes to Berlin to Montreal and beyond.The program features the work of a generation of young, up-and-coming filmmakers-the first program of such work from France ever to receive distribution in the United States-and includes a broad range of styles and genres, from animation to fiction to documentary, reflecting the diversity of both the visions of contemporary French filmmakers and the people of France-from foundry workers in Brest to Algerian immigrants transplanted to Paris; from the malaise of la vie quotidienne for a wealthy married couple to flirtatious youths in the capital'sMetro system.

Back in action again following a long prison term, Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) finds himself on the outside looking in at a world he once commanded. Ostensibly hoping to repair his broken relationship with his daughter, Gekko forges an alliance with her fiance, Jacob (Shia LaBeouf). Though Jacob comes to view Gekko as a father figure, he learns the hard way that Gekko is still a master manipulator who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. In theaters 9/24
