Been pretty busy, so I haven't blogged for awhile.  However, I was compelled to write today because yesterday was such a big day!

Yesterday, Portland was visited by both President Obama and my favorite actor, Tom Hanks.  Hanks is a big Aston Villa fan, so he was at JELD-WEN Field to see the match between the English Premier League team and the hometown Timbers. Hanks left happy after Aston Villa won the shootout 5-4 after the two teams tied 2-2 at the end of regulation.

I didn't catch the President during his visit, but I hope he (and Hanks) had a good time while visiting.

Funny aside... A couple years ago, I had people all over the country trying to get my book, THORNRIDGE: The Perfect Season in Black and White into the hands of Hanks and the President. I thought Obama would like the book because it's a true story about a Chicago area high school basketball team that overcame racial prejudice to become the state's best team ever.  And, nothing is imminent, but I was approached by an independent film company about turning the book into a movie. I'd like nothing better than to have Hanks direct/act in the movie which I would love to be written by Portland's own Mike Rich.  Some say, "Scott, You're dreaming."  I say, "Yes, I am still dreaming about it, and sometimes dreams come true!"   Stay tuned...

Pac-12 football media day was yesterday... signalling a start to the college football season.  Practice begins in less than two weeks for the Beavers and Ducks!
